A Stray Cats occurs as rockabilly band first formed within 1979 by guitarist/vocalist Brian Setzer with school friends Lee Rocker (born Leon Drucker) and Slim Jim Phantom (born James McDonnell). A class action got many hit singles in the U.K. & a U.S. in a period of the early 1980s.
Fallowing their number one break-higher inside 1984, the b& has reunited off-and-around ever since; last (in 2004) they freed the Infect Brixton album of survive versions of numbers of of their early songs.
Formation and rapid U.K. success
A Stray Cats was formed in the Long Island town of Massapequa, New York. Their retro 1950s sound didn't go all over swell, thus in the summertime of 1980, the class action headed to England, in which the rockabilly revival movement was beginning to emerge.
Fallowing a gig within London, the Stray Cats met producer Dave Edmunds, well called the roots rock enthusiast for his act by owning Rockpile and as a solo artist. Edmunds offered to act by owning a class action, & it entered a studio to record their self-titled debut album, freed witharound England in 1981 on Arista Records. It were popular immediately, scoring triad straight hits that month using "Runaway Boys," "Rock This Town," & "Stray Cat Strut." A watch-higher, Gonna Ball, wasn't as well received, & stung per veto reviews, Stray Cats decided to link to to the States & produce the last of it.
Return to the U.S.
A Stray Cats signed by having EMI America and in 1982 released their U.S. debut, Built for Speed, compiled from their 2 British LPs.
Helped by extensive airplay on the newly-launched MTV, "Rock This Town" and "Stray Cat Strut" two hit a Western Top Ten, over a year when their British chart peaks. Following, Built for Speed wwhen a left-field smash, & a Stray Cats were seen as avatars of retro style. Their 2nd Our contries album, ''Rant n' Rave With the Stray Cats'', appeared in 1983 and produced another Top Ten hit inside "(She's) Sexy + 17," besides as a minor Top 40 entry in the doo wop-styled ballad "I Won't Stand in Your Way."
Break-up and subsequent reunions
Personality conflicts began to emerge in a ways the single members handled their up to date-detected profits; Phantom married actress Britt Ekland, while Setzer mass produced guest appearances by using stars prefer Bob Dylan and Stevie Nicks and became the concert guitar player for Robert Plant's Honeydrippers side project. Around late 1984, Setzer broke up a band amid great deal animosity.
Around 1986, a Stray Cats had back together around Los Angeles, & recorded the covers-heavy Rock Therapy, which didn't sell that well.
A trio returned to their various post-Stray Cats projects, which two freed albums that performed disappointingly. There is no elongated by owning EMI, a Cats entered a studio by having Nile Rodgers for the lackluster ''Let's Go Faster'', issued by Liberation in 1990. 1992's Dave Edmunds-produced Choo Choo Hot Fish also attracted little attention, and fallowing a second covers album, Original Cool, the class action known as it quits over again.

A Stray Cats stand reunited sporadically for survive performances.
Setzer was a portion of the 1990s swing revival with his Brian Setzer Orchestra. Rocker & Phantom went in to form Swing Cats as well as cathartic occasionally solo poop.
